Can it help me?
Acupuncture is considered to be beneficial for a wide range of conditions. NICE (the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence) recommends acupuncture on the NHS for back pain, migraines and headaches. The respected Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network (SIGN) recommends acupuncture for chronic pain.

Because an acupuncture treatment is designed to affect your whole body, not just your symptoms, you may notice other niggling problems resolve during a course of treatment. Keith is happy to discuss how acupuncture can help you in a free consultation over the phone.

Who has acupuncture?
A lot of people have acupuncture to relieve specific aches and pains, such as osteoarthritis of the knee, TMJ, headaches and low back pain, or for common health problems like an overactive bladder. Some pregnant women have acupuncture throughout their pregnancy as support. Other people choose acupuncture when their bodily functions are out of balance, but they have no obvious diagnosis. And many have regular treatments because they find it so beneficial and relaxing.

Conditions
Acupuncture has been successfully used for many thousands of years as the primary medicinal tool for a wide range of conditions. Working on the cause as well as the condition itself, acupuncture has gained a world wide reputation as an effective treatment and can benefit those of any age. Prevention is obviously better than cure and part of the sessions may include lifestyle and dietary advice.
If you would like to know if your condition is suitable for treatment using acupuncture, please contact us. Alternatively you can find out more from The Association of Acupuncture Clinicians

Before Treatment

  • Masks are no longer compulsory, but we do review this regularly. If you would like Keith to wear one, please do ask.

  • Under 18's need a parent or legal guardian to accompany them at all times

  • Please wear loose clothing and bring a clean towel/blanket for covering, in case you need to remove items of clothing.

  • If you have been in contact with anyone in the last 48 hours who has Covid or Covid symptoms, then please phone to rearrange the appointment

  • You will be asked to disinfect your hands upon entering the Clinic.

  • Please turn up to The Clinic on time - we are staggering appointments and there is currently little waiting room facility. Toilets are of course available.

  • If you develop any of the signs and symptoms of C19 described in the  health questionnaire, then please rearrange the appointment - you will not be charged for this. This includes dry cough, temperature, change in taste and smell, feeling ill. It is possible to feel fatigued after acupuncture, but this should not persist beyond two days after treatment. If it does, please contact me.

  • Acupuncture can lower blood sugar levels temporarily, so please ensure that you have eaten ( not a large meal) and have a small snack available with you for after treatment and before driving post treatment.

  • Payment is by debit/credit card. Initial treatment including the consultation is £68, then it's £53 per treatment thereafter.

  • It is likely that you will require a course of treatment, so please bring a diary to book in subsequent appointments

After Treatment

  • Whilst most people feel energised and relaxed following treatment, it is possible to feel tired after treatment and possibly the next day. This can be a sign that your body is fatigued so do rest, eat and keep hydrated, avoiding caffeine or other stimulants.

  • Occasionally symptoms can get worse after treatment. Although uncommon, this is completely normal and you should feel better within three days. If this persists longer than three days, then please contact me. This is known as "The Law of Cure" or " Healing Crisis" and is well documented should you wish to research it.

  • Avoid alcohol, spicy food and caffeine for 24 hours after treatment

  • If you develop any signs and symptoms of C19 within 48 hours after your last treatment,  please phone the Clinic immediately on 01225 868282 for Bradford on Avon or 07568 571729 for Frome. There are strict protocols that we have to follow in this instance and the earlier we know, the better.

  • This way of practicing is in constant flux, so please do bear with us. If you have any constructive feedback, then it is always welcomed.

  • Details of how to get to the Clinic can be found at www.km-acupuncture.co.uk

As always, any questions then please do ask.
It is Clinic Policy to charge for missed appointments. However if this is down to illness, then no charge will be made.
